Lesson Quotes:
Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
“Willing obedience provides lasting protection against Satan’s alluring and tantalizing temptations. Jesus is our perfect example of obedience. Learn to do as He did when Satan tempted Him in the wilderness. Even though He was weakened by fasting, His answer was quick and firm: “Get thee behind me, Satan.” Elder Neal A. Maxwell said this of the Savior’s example in resisting temptation: “Jesus noticed the tremendous temptations that came to Him, but He did not process and reprocess them. Instead, He rejected them promptly. If we entertain temptations, soon they begin entertaining us!” When Satan comes calling, cast him out as quickly as possible. Do not let temptation even begin to entertain you.” (CR April 1974)

Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong
“Our combined faith will also affect the well-being of others.
“Who were those people that Jesus mentioned? They could well include the four who carried the man with palsy, the man himself, the people who had prayed for him, and all those who were there listening to the preaching of Jesus and cheering quietly in their hearts for the soon-to-come miracle. They could also include a spouse, a parent, a son or a daughter, a missionary, a quorum president, a Relief Society president, a bishop, and a faraway friend. We can all help one another. We should always be anxiously engaged in seeking to rescue those in need” (“Rescue in Unity,” Ensign, Nov. 2014, 16).
President Henry B. Eyring
“As I prayed, I knew with surety what to do—just as I have in other situations when I needed to rely on heaven’s help to solve a problem.” (“Gathering the Family of God,” General Conference, April 2017).
Elder Richard G. Scott
“This life is an experience in profound trust—trust in Jesus Christ, trust in His teachings, trust in our capacity as led by the Holy Spirit to obey those teachings for happiness now and for a purposeful, supremely happy eternal existence. To trust means to obey willingly without knowing the end from the beginning (see Prov. 3:5–7). To produce fruit, your trust in the Lord must be more powerful and enduring than your confidence in your own personal feelings and experience” (“Trust in the Lord,” Ensign, Nov. 1995, 17).
President Ezra Taft Benson
“Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He will deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, raise up friends, and pour out peace. Whoever will lose his life in the service of God will find eternal life.” (“Jesus Christ—Gifts and Expectations,” Ensign, Dec. 1988, 4)

Lawrence E Corbridge
Just give it up. Surrender your will to Him.
Unconditionally. Withhold nothing. Turn it all over to Him; all of your
desires, wishes, dreams and hopes. Be true and faithful in your head and in
your heart, not just in your behavior. Trust in Him. Trust Him who knows all
things. Trust Him who has all power. Trust Him whose love for you is perfect.
Trust Him, who alone suffered, paid and atoned for your sins, and for your
weaknesses as well. Trust Him that He will make of you, immeasurably more, than
what you will ever, ever, in all eternity, make of yourself. He will create of
you a masterpiece. You will create of you only a smudge. You will create an
ordinary man. He will create a God.
I think that President David O. McKay once said something
like this: "The greatest battles you will ever fight will be within the
silent chambers of your heart" That is the battleground between what you
want and what the Lord wants. If you surrender, if the Lord wins, you win also.
If you win, if your will prevails, you and the Lord both lose. The only wav to
win is to lose. Lose yourself in the Lord's work, and you will win beyond your
wildest imaginations, for "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have
entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that
love him." (I Cor 2:9).
